The Big 50

Well Wednesday I turned 50....I know...It's crazy! But at least I didn't wake up feeling any older.

Tuesday evening I left town with 2 girlfriends and Jenn and we headed to Vegas. Wednesday we had tickets that came with a Greet and Meet to see Donny and Marie. Had a blast. Only down fall was Marie wasn't at the Meet and Greet...a little disappointing but at least it wasn't Donny. It was fun.

Kelley had brought some Birthday/50 accessories so I wore a birthday sash and a 50 button...got lots of happy birthday wishes walking around and got a few hugs too...I must say it was fun. We headed back home Thursday before lunch.

Thanks to my girls for making it a special day...it was a total blast.

As soon as I get copies from Fonda and Kelley I'll post a few for you to see.

And by the way...Bailey is doing really good.

Have a great weekend.

Address Labels

Yippee! Address labels...I love 'em.

Over the weekend in the mail I received free address labels from certain organizations in hopes for a donation. Some I support and some I don't. But was so VERY HAPPY to receive them.

You see...when I moved I had enough address labels from the old address to last me years and years. Upon moving here I had none so every time I had to mail something I had to hand write my name and address on the envelope. Seems like a simple chore. Think again. For someone that doesn't like to write and after awhile starts to bother the hand this chore started to become a pain in the you know what.

But this morning I'm doing bills and using my new address labels and all I can say is......

"Yippee....I Love Address Labels!"

My Favorite Boys!

Jenn stopped this evening and not only did she bring Liam but she brought Colton as well.
It's been awhile since I've posted pictures of the grand-babies so I thought I'd start tonight with this one.
Aren't they just adorable?
I just LOVE these boys!

Enjoy your weekend....until next time....

Bailey's Check Up

Bailey went to the doctor today so they could test his red blood cell count...when he left the hospital on Thursday he was hovering around 28....2 days later he is at 34...the doctor was so happy to see that...normal is between 38-50 so we're getting close. She doesn't feel Bailey needs to be checked again until 3 weeks from now unless he back slides....so all in all a good sign.

Yeah Bailey!!!!

So, hopefully there will be no more updates for 3 weeks.

Thanks for your prayers and concern and well wishes.

Enjoy your weekend...ours here is wet and cold...something I'm getting a little tired of.

Bailey's Home

Just got home with Bailey...he's happy to be home. His color looks good. He was happy to see me that he had his paws around my neck licking me...he has energy back and that is good. He seems to be a few degrees calmer than before so not sure if he'll be a little calmer or not. I guess the test will be when someone comes over if he knocks them down or not. Honestly a little calmer would be good. :)

He has to go back Saturday for a check and will probably have to go back a couple times a week just to stay on top of his numbers and such to make sure they are going home.

He's also on medication and will be for at least 6 months before weaning him off to see if he can tolerate being off of them. Hopefully he will be able to get off them...one is $200 a month. Right now I'm just glad he's getting better.

For the time being he needs to stay away from other dogs, dog parks, being boarded, doggie day care etc...just to insure he doesn't catch anything. I'm leaving town the end of this month for a couple days and the Dr said i could board him there and they can watch him for a small fee. I feel comfortable doing that so that is nice to know I can do that.

So thank you for your prayers and well wishes and checking in on his progress, I really appreciate it...continued prayers for the recovery ahead.

Enjoy your weekend!

Another Bailey Update

This morning I got a call from the nurse at the hospital saying Bailey was doing good his numbers were up and he's wanting to play and looks good and that the Dr needs to run another test around noon but it's looking like he'll be able to go home.

Of course I'm excited and nervous...I'm thinking what if he relapse.

Well....the Dr just called and said she was sorry but the nurse looked at the wrong number and though his numbers are good they haven't gone up any since yesterday so he's at a number she doesn't feel comfortable letting him go home yet (these numbers are regarding his blood red cell count)...but he is playing and doing really good, doesn't act like a sick dog at all. She said his bilirubin has gone down...it was as high as 47 and now is down to 7....normal is 0.3... he is showing signs of getting better though he's not out of the woods yet.

So far now Bailey will stay in the hospital a couple more days at least but seems to be improving and really...I don't think they really thought he would make it this far and if truth be known...either did I. Continue prayers for Bailey as he still has a long ways to go.

Bailey Update

Bailey is holding his own. I had a visit with him Saturday and again today.

On Sunday his red blood cell count had gone up one number and held steady until today...which was kind of good in that fact that he didn't need another blood transfusion over the weekend. The less they have to transfuse him the better for him in the long run.

But today his number dropped one but because he hasn't built anymore cells on his own and his bone marrow is over working and the fact he has had a high heart rate recently and pulse rate they decided this evening he needed another transfusion. They were afraid to much stress on his heart and they wanted to relief that. His heart rate is high because of all the stress his body is going through.

So, they called this evening to say he was half way through his transfusion and he was resting comfortably and his heart rate had gone down.

Bailey seems to be holding his own...not out of the woods, still critical but we're cautiously optimistic.

Bailey was happy to us...Jenn went with me so I think that does him good to know he hasn't been left and that I have come back. Even after we left Saturday the doctor said he seemed a little more at ease.

Please keep Bailey in your prayers. Not sure I'll be able to make it back until Wednesday morning unless I can make it tomorrow before visiting hours are over in the evening.

Happy Birthday Bailey

HAPPY BIRTHDAY
Bailey Harris
Born January 8, 2009
One years old
Today is Bailey's birthday...one he shares with The King of Rock and Roll....Elvis Presley. Tonight bailey spends his birthday in a hospital in the ICU unit being carefully monitored. He is getting his blood transfusion that may not even work cause his immune system is fighting against him and destroying his red blood cells...which is probably what will happen after he receives new blood.
The doctors have ruled many causes out but still unable to figure what is actually wrong. they know what he has but not what is causing it. Apparently this just doesn't happen in a dog this young.
The doctor says he can tell Bailey has a little fight in because he has some numbers that are high in certain areas that should be lower with his condition and they aren't so that's a small good sign.
But Bailey is very sick and very week and to be honest with you, not sure he's gonna pull through this. The Doc says the only good thing on his side is his age, that he's young and that may be a help.
I felt when I said good bye and I love you today that, that would be the last time I would see him.
I hope I'm wrong.
I will keep you posted.
Happy Birthday Bay!

First Post of The New Year....I'll Call It Curve Balls

Just as you think a new year is going to bring you something new and different...it does...maybe not what you expected but still different...I like to call them curve balls.

Tomorrow...Bailey...my Australian Shepherd turns 1 ( I got him on March 17th)...and he is very very sick. Though he seems to be a tiny bit better than the day before and even 12 hours ago...he is still very sick and needs to be closely monitored.

He is very anemic and his red blood cells and hemoglobin are very low.and because of this it has made the numbers low with his thyroid. Right now we are trying to figure out what disease he may have that is causing this or if he has been poisoned. Because of the blood clotting test results it may not be the poison though he is still being treated for it. Still waiting on 2 more test to come back on the clotting.

Bailey has done nothing but lay around and sleep, no energy and very pale. If you know Bailey, this is not normal, he has the energy of 5 dogs.

Tomorrow morning he goes back in for another blood test. His test from this morning show is red cell count is still dropping and he's close to a life threatening stage. If tomorrow it shows it has dropped anymore we may have to go to the animal hospital and he'll have to receive a blood transfusion and be in the hospital for awhile. Of course this could be costly but you do what you do, especially when there is a chance of survival.

Nights are hard cause your afraid to sleep that something may happen and you won't know. Bailey needs to be monitored and not left alone. You may think...why isn't he in the hospital now. Bailey's vet feels he can get better monitoring at home and it being less stressful on him. I can do the same thing they would do but more often. I know...still a little scared if something happened and I had to do that emergency drive.

So say a prayer for Bailey that his meds will work and his red blood cells will start to go up or that if he has to have a transfusion that he will be safe.
