A Day In Verona Italy

I must warn you...the post is long...mainly because of the pictures...but I think you'll enjoy it...

Today is our last day in Italy and after leaving Venice we had already decided to take a day trip to a town called Verona....I didn't know much about it except for this is where Juliet (of Romeo and Juliet) lived....so we hopped a train (something we just loved doing...lol) and set out to our destination.

 On our train rides she would take all the pictures....I will say she was funny...she just couldn't put that camera down.

 Once we arrived in Verona we got a taxi and had him take us to the area where Juliet's balcony was

This picture does not do this place justice...it was so beautiful.

 so we walked and tried to get our bearings....this place was hopping...people everywhere and so many high end shops,

below is Juliet's balcony (actually her name is spelled is Giulietta) but we will just keep it the way we  know it. 

 we are standing in a small courtyard where you can see the home and the balcony,

 and in the courtyard is a statue of Juliet....funny..nothing regarding Romeo...

but legend has it if you rub the breast of Juliet it will bring luck and love...

we were told that after we watched people rub the statue and we were like...huh???
and in case your wondering...NO, I did not rub the breast of Juliet...though I am in need of a little luck and love, just couldn't go there...

 the wall of locks...here people put locks for a sign of everlasting loves as well as many notes and writings on the wall

 it was touristy but still fun and worth the time it took to see....you could go in the house but we opt to just see what we saw and go....below are the people outside the walls of Juliet's balcony....as I said this place was hopping.

 we walked in the center of this place and what a beautiful place....they even have there own mini version of the Colosseum called The Arena Di Verona...just gorgeous

 from the other direction...see the arena to the right...there were even guys dressed in gladiator suits...funny...but they weren't as aggressive as the ones in Rome.

 not sure how this was done but very cool...man on the ground holding a stick and a man in the air holding the stick with one hand and nothing holding him up...was interesting and worth the tip to take the picture

 we did our walking and saw enough that it was time to find us some souvenirs to help remind us of our trip....I loved the out door market style of shopping....they had it all.

 after shopping we looked for a place to have a late lunch early dinner and we weren't liking some of the places that looked nice but were in a very crowded area and in direct sun....so we went down a side street and we stumbled upon this square with about 3 different restaurants....

 it was quite...it was in the shade...it had a nice a view...so we knew we found our spot to sit awhile and just soak it all in..

 and of course our favorite thing...wine...so relaxing to sit and visit over a bottle of wine...or 2

 we had a nice meal...this time we decided to have our own...something we did only a couple of times...usually we shared...still not understanding the shrimp head as a decoration on my plate.

 we sat for a couple hours and enjoyed our time over wine and conversation...then it was time to walk to the taxi stand and head back to Mestre..it was time to pack and get a good nights sleep...in the morning we leave early and head for Switzerland...

Our time in Italy has come to an end...so sad to leave...I have had the best time...Italy was more than I expected and everything I could imagine.

Every city in Italy we visited was different...nothing was the same...it was so cool being transported to a different time and place with each place we visited.

I loved it! and I miss it!

I go very few places where I want to go back and see more and Italy is on my list to go back and see more...thinking the beginning of 2014 (wink...wink)
