California Day 1

April 4, 2009
Santa Monica, California
We had a nice flight...flew from Jacksonville to Houston and on to LA...it was long but nice...moved through the airport rather fast but check in' for our rental car was another story...in line for at least 40 minutes. Then when we go to get the car it isn't there...they had one more in the back and we crabbed it....we had ordered a convertible and I guess so did everyone else.
We got a GPS system with ours to help us navigate through a town we knew nothing about. As my sister in law Laura put it...we were probably the only people with a GPS that still didn't know where we were going. We turned around so many times it isn't even funny (but it was)...Ha!
So we got our car and drove to Santa Monica. Santa Monica is right outside of downtown LA by about 20 minutes with no traffic.
When we arrived at our hotel and then up to our room this is what we found....
An ocean view to die for.
That is our balcony....it was wonderful to just sit out there and feel the breeze and have a drink. Below is the Santa Monica Pier....this picture was taken from our balcony. I'm tellin' ya...the view was wonderful....I could of sat on the balcony with a drink the whole time and never of left the room.
That evening after relaxing on the balcony we headed down to the boardwalk before going to dinner....we past this sign and took this picture...after all it's history right? Well, maybe in the surf books.
It was crazy how packed it was coming over the bridge into the pier. We ate dinner at what I think was called The Lobster House...can't remember right now but that's close. It was to the left of this entrance. It was a nice restaurant but I was a little surprised by the lack of seafood items they had....but still good.
We also that evening sat by the pool with heaters relaxing having a drink...was very nice. Anytime relaxing is nice.
After dinner we headed back to our room to get some sleep for our big outing to Venice Beach.
See you at the next post.
